Trieste

Last Friday I somewhat spontaneously took the train to Trieste, which is a town in the far east corner of Italy. Its nearly 5 miles from Slovenia and just a little further to Croatia.
Interestingly, the city was a key port for the Austrian-Hungarian empire and Italy only took it over after WWII.  The architecture was anything but traditional Italian.

Ended up spending most of my time sitting by the sea and soaking up the sun

lots of jellies in the Adriatic!
